Arabic (Original)
وَعَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ طَعَامِ الْمُتَبَارِيَيْنِ أَنْ يُؤْكَلَ. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَقَالَ مُحْيِي السُّنَّةِ: وَالصَّحِيحُ أَنَّهُ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُرْسَلًا
English Translation
‘Ikrima, on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbas, said the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) forbade that the food of two people who were rivalling one another should be eaten. Abu Dawud transmitted it. Muhyi as-Sunna said the sound version is that it comes from ‘Ikrima from the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) in mursal form.
Urdu Translation
حضرت عکرمہ، حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت فرماتے ہیں: نبی صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ایک دوسرے پر سبقت لے جانے والوں (باہم مقابلہ کرنے والوں) کا کھانا کھانے سے منع فرمایا۔ (حضرت ابوداؤد) محیی السنہ نے فرمایا: صحیح بات یہ ہے کہ یہ عکرمہ سے نبی صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تک مرسل ہے۔
