وَعَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ أَنَّهُ خَرَجَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَتَخَلَّفَ مَعَ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ وَهُمْ مُحْرِمُونَ وَهُوَ غَيْرُ مُحْرِمٍ فَرَأَوْا حِمَارًا وَحْشِيًّا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرَاهُ فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ تَرَكُوهُ حَتَّى رَآهُ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ فَرَكِبَ فَرَسًا لَهُ فَسَأَلَهُمْ أَنْ يُنَاوِلُوهُ سَوْطَهُ فَأَبَوْا فَتَنَاوَلَهُ فَحَمَلَ عَلَيْهِ فَعَقَرَهُ ثُمَّ أَكَلَ فَأَكَلُوا فَنَدِمُوا فَلَمَّا أَدْرَكُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَأَلُوهُ. قَالَ: «هَلْ مَعَكُمْ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ؟» قَالُوا: مَعَنَا رِجْلُهُ فَأَخَذَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسلم فَأكلهَا وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ لَهُمَا: فَلَمَّا أَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «أَمِنْكُمْ أَحَدٌ أَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَحْمِلَ عَلَيْهَا؟ أَوْ أَشَارَ إِلَيْهَا؟» قَالُوا: لَا قَالَ: «فَكُلُوا مَا بَقِيَ مِنْ لَحمهَا»
English Translation
Hadrat Abu Qatada said that he went out with God’s messenger and stayed behind with some of his companions who were in the sacred state, although he was not. They saw a wild ass before Hadrat Abu Qatada saw it, and when they saw it they ignored it; but when he saw it he mounted a horse of his and asked them to hand him his whip. When they refused, he took it, chased the wild ass and killed it. Both he and they ate it, but afterwards they repented, so when they caught up on the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) they asked him about it. He asked if they had any of it with them, and when they told him they had a leg, the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) took it and ate it. Bukhari and Muslim. In a version by both of them it says that when they came to God’s messenger he asked whether any of them had ordered or suggested to him that he should chase it, and when they replied that they had not, he told them to eat the flesh that remained.
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ وہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ نکلے اور بعض صحابہ کے ساتھ پیچھے رہ گئے۔ وہ سب محرم تھے لیکن حضرت ابوقتادہ محرم نہیں تھے۔ انہوں نے ایک جنگلی گدھا دیکھا جو حضرت ابوقتادہ سے پہلے دوسروں کو نظر آیا، لیکن انہوں نے اسے چھوڑ دیا۔ جب حضرت ابوقتادہ نے دیکھا تو اپنے گھوڑے پر سوار ہوئے اور لوگوں سے کوڑا دینے کو کہا، انہوں نے انکار کیا، تو خود لے کر حملہ کیا اور اسے مار دیا۔ پھر سب نے کھایا لیکن بعد میں پشیمان ہوئے۔ جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے ملے تو پوچھا، آپ نے فرمایا: کیا تمہارے پاس اس میں سے کچھ ہے؟ عرض کیا: ایک ران ہے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے وہ لے کر تناول فرمائی۔ بخاری و مسلم کی ایک روایت میں ہے: جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس آئے تو آپ نے پوچھا: کیا تم میں سے کسی نے اسے حکم دیا یا اشارہ کیا تھا؟ عرض کیا: نہیں۔ آپ نے فرمایا: تو جو گوشت باقی ہے وہ کھاؤ۔ (بخاری و مسلم)
