وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسلم: «إِن عمْرَة فِي رَمَضَان تعدل حجَّة» وَعَنْهُ قَالَ: إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَقِيَ رَكْبًا بِالرَّوْحَاءِ فَقَالَ: «مَنِ الْقَوْمُ؟» قَالُوا: الْمُسْلِمُونَ. فَقَالُوا: مَنْ أَنْتَ؟ قَالَ: «رَسُولُ اللَّهِ» فَرَفَعَتْ إِلَيْهِ امْرَأَةٌ صَبِيًّا فَقَالَتْ: أَلِهَذَا حَجٌّ؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ وَلَكِ أَجَرٌ» . رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ
English Translation
Hadrat Ibn ‘Abbas reported God’s messenger as saying, “An 'umra in Ramadan is equal to a hajja. ” (hajj is the word for the pilgrimage and hajja is a form indicating a single observance.) He told of the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) meeting some riders at ar-Rauha’ (A place between thirty and forty miles from Medina on the way to Mecca) and asking who they were. They replied that they were Muslims and asked who he was. When he said that he was the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) a woman lifted up a boy to him and asked whether the child could be credited with having performed the pilgrimage, to which he replied, “Yes, and you will have a reward.” Muslim transmitted it.
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: رمضان میں عمرہ حج کے برابر ہے۔ اور حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے روحاء میں ایک قافلے سے ملاقات کی اور فرمایا: یہ قوم کون ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: مسلمان ہیں۔ انہوں نے پوچھا: آپ کون ہیں؟ آپ نے فرمایا: اللہ کے رسول۔ ایک عورت نے ایک بچہ اٹھا کر عرض کیا: کیا اس کا حج ہے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ہاں اور تمہارے لیے اجر ہے۔ (مسلم)
