Arabic (Original)
وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: مَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَحَرَّى صِيَامَ يَوْمٍ فَضَّلَهُ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ إِلَّا هَذَا الْيَوْمَ: يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ وَهَذَا الشَّهْرُ يَعْنِي شَهْرَ رَمَضَان
English Translation
Hadrat Ibn ‘Abbas said, "I never saw the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) singling out any day’s fast and considering it more excellent than another, except this day, the day of ‘Ashura’,* and this month, meaning the month of Ramadan." *The 10th of Muharram. (Bukhari and Muslim.)
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما فرماتے ہیں: میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو کسی دن کے روزے کو خاص طور پر دوسرے دنوں سے افضل سمجھتے نہیں دیکھا سوائے یومِ عاشوراء (دسویں محرم) کے اور سوائے اس مہینے یعنی رمضان کے۔ (بخاری و مسلم)
