وَعَنْ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى قَالَ: يَا عِيسَى إِنِّي بَاعِثٌ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ أُمَّةً إِذَا أَصَابَهُمْ مَا يُحِبُّونَ حَمِدُوا اللَّهَ وَإِنْ أَصَابَهُمْ مَا يَكْرَهُونَ احْتَسَبُوا وَصَبَرُوا وَلَا حِلْمَ وَلَا عَقْلَ. فَقَالَ: يَا رَبِّ كَيْفَ يَكُونُ هَذَا لَهُمْ وَلَا حِلْمَ وَلَا عَقْلَ؟ قَالَ: أُعْطِيهِمْ مِنْ حِلْمِي وَعِلْمِي ". رَوَاهُمَا الْبَيْهَقِيُّ فِي شعب الْإِيمَان
English Translation
Hadrat Umm ad-Darda’ said she heard Abud Darda’ say he heard Abul Qasim (i.e the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)) say that God who is blessed and exalted said, “I am sending after your time, Jesus (upon him be peace), a people who will praise God when what they like happens to them, and seek their reward from God and show endurance when what they dislike afflicts them, though they do not possess forbearance and intelligence.” He asked, “My Lord, how can this be when they do not possess forbearance or intelligence?” God replied, “I shall give them some of my forbearance and my knowledge.” Baihaqi transmitted the two traditions in Shu'ab al-lman.
Urdu Translation
حضرت ام الدرداء رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا فرماتی ہیں: میں نے حضرت ابو الدرداء رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا: میں نے ابوالقاسم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا کہ اللہ تبارک و تعالیٰ نے فرمایا: اے عیسیٰ! میں تیرے بعد ایک امت بھیجوں گا، جب انہیں پسندیدہ چیز ملے گی تو اللہ کی حمد اور شکر کریں گے، اور جب انہیں ناپسندیدہ چیز پہنچے گی تو صبر اور ثواب کی نیت رکھیں گے، اور نہ ان میں (خاص) حلم ہوگا اور نہ (خاص) علم۔ فرمایا: یا رب! یہ بغیر حلم اور علم کے کیسے ہوگا؟ فرمایا: میں انہیں اپنے حلم اور علم میں سے عطا کروں گا۔ (احمد)
