Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَتَلَ رَجُلٌ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَرُفِعَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَدَفَعَهُ إِلَى وَلِيِّ الْمَقْتُولِ فَقَالَ الْقَاتِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهِ مَا أَرَدْتُ قَتْلَهُ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لِلْوَلِيِّ " أَمَا إِنَّهُ إِنْ كَانَ صَادِقًا ثُمَّ قَتَلْتَهُ دَخَلْتَ النَّارَ " . قَالَ فَخَلَّى سَبِيلَهُ . قَالَ وَكَانَ مَكْتُوفًا بِنِسْعَةٍ فَخَرَجَ يَجُرُّ نِسْعَتَهُ فَسُمِّيَ ذَا النِّسْعَةِ .
English Translation
It is narrated that Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) said:“A man killed (another) during the time of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and was referred to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He handed him over to the victim's next of kin, but the killer said: 'O the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), by Allah I did not mean to kill him.' The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated to the next of kin, 'If he is telling the truth and you kill him, you will go to Hell.' So he let him go. He had been tied with a rope, and he went out dragging his rope, so he became known as Dhan-Nis'ah (the one with the rope)
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ ایک شخص نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے زمانے میں قتل کر دیا تو اس کا مقدمہ آآپ کے پاس لایا گیا، چنانچہ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے قاتل کو مقتول کے ولی کے حوالے کر دیا، قاتل نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! اللہ کی قسم، میرا اس کو قتل کرنے کا قطعاً ارادہ نہیں تھا، آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ولی سے کہا: اگر یہ اپنی بات میں سچا ہے، اور تم نے اس کو قتل کر دیا تو تم جہنم میں جاؤ گے تو مقتول کے ولی نے اس کو چھوڑ دیا، قاتل پٹے سے بندھا ہوا تھا، وہ پٹا گھسیٹتا ہوا نکلا، اور اس کا نام ہی پٹے والا پڑ گیا۔
