Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " كَمْ مَضَى مِنَ الشَّهْرِ؟ " . قَالَ: قُلْنَا: اثْنَانِ وَعِشْرُونَ وَبَقِيَتْ ثَمَانٍ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " الشَّهْرُ هَكَذَا وَالشَّهْرُ هَكَذَا وَالشَّهْرُ هَكَذَا " . ثَلاَثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَأَمْسَكَ وَاحِدَةً .
English Translation
It is narrated from Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated:‘How much of the month has passed?” We said: “Twenty-two (days), and there are eight left.” The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: “The month is like that, and the month is like that, (and the month is like that), three times, and he withheld one finger the last time.”
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: مہینہ میں کتنے دن گزرے ہیں؟ ہم نے عرض کیا: بائیس دن گزرے ہیں اور آٹھ دن باقی ہیں، آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: مہینہ اتنا، اتنا اور اتنا ہے، اور تیسری بار ایک انگلی بند کر لی ۱؎۔
