Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ مُرَّ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ بِجِنَازَةٍ فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا فَقَالَ " وَجَبَتْ " . ثُمَّ مُرَّ عَلَيْهِ بِجِنَازَةٍ فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا شَرًّا فَقَالَ " وَجَبَتْ " . فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قُلْتَ لِهَذِهِ وَجَبَتْ وَلِهَذِهِ وَجَبَتْ فَقَالَ " شَهَادَةُ الْقَوْمِ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ شُهُودُ اللَّهِ فِي الأَرْضِ " .
English Translation
It is narrated that Hadrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be well pleased with him) said:“A funeral (procession) passed by the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and they praised (the deceased) and spoke well of him. He said: ‘(Paradise is) guaranteed for him.’ Then another funeral passed by and they spoke badly of him, and he (the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)) said: ‘(Hell is) guaranteed for him.’ It was said: ‘O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), you said that (Paradise was) guaranteed for this one and that (Hell was) guaranteed for the other one.’ He said: ‘It is the testimony of the people, and the believers are the witnesses of Allah on earth.’”
Urdu Translation
حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے سامنے سے ایک جنازہ لے جایا گیا، لوگوں نے اس کی تعریف کی، تو آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اس پر ( جنت ) واجب ہو گئی پھر آپ کے سامنے سے ایک اور جنازہ لے جایا گیا، تو لوگوں نے اس کی برائی کی، تو آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اس پر ( جہنم ) واجب ہو گئی ، لوگوں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! آپ نے اس کے لیے بھی فرمایا: واجب ہو گئی ، اور اس کے لیے بھی فرمایا: واجب ہو گئی تو آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: لوگوں کی گواہی واجب ہو گئی، اور مومن زمین میں اللہ تعالیٰ کے گواہ ہیں ۱؎۔
