حَدَّثَنَاإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ، قَالَ: ثَنَاحَفْصُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: ثَنَاسُفْيَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْعَمْرٍو الثَّقَفِيِّ، عَنْأَبِيهِ، عَنْجَدِّهِ، قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَفِي يَدِهِ خَاتَمٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ عَظِيمٌ، فَقَالَ:" أَتُؤَدِّي زَكَاةَ هَذَا؟ قَالَ: وَمَا زَكَاتُهُ؟ قَالَ: فَلَمَّا وَلَّى، قَالَ: جَمْرَةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ"، قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: قَالَ الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ فِي هَذَا، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَعْلَى الطَّائِفِيِّ.
English Translation
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "A man said: Tonight I will give charity. He went out with his charity and placed it in the hand of a thief. The next morning people said: Charity was given to a thief last night! He said: O Allah, praise be to You — to a thief? I will give charity again. He went out and placed it in the hand of a prostitute. The next morning people said: Charity was given to a prostitute! He said: O Allah, praise be to You — to a prostitute? I will give charity again. He went out and placed it in the hand of a rich man. People said: Charity was given to a rich man! He said: O Allah, praise be to You — to a thief, a prostitute, and a rich man! He was told: Your charity to the thief may cause him to refrain from stealing, the prostitute may refrain from adultery, and the rich man may learn a lesson and spend from what Allah has given him."
Urdu Translation
عمرو بن یعلیٰ الثقفی اپنے والد سے اور وہ اپنے دادا سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ ایک شخص رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس آیا، اس کے ہاتھ میں سونے کی ایک بڑی انگوٹھی تھی۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے دریافت فرمایا: کیا تم اس کی زکاة ادا کرتے ہو؟ اس نے کہا: اس کی زکاة کیا ہے؟ جب وہ واپس جانے لگا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا: یہ بہت بڑا انگارہ ہے۔ ابومحمد کہتے ہیں کہ ولید بن مسلم نے اسے سفیان سے اور سفیان نے عمرو بن یعلیٰ الطائفی سے روایت کیا۔[المنتقى ابن الجارود/كتاب الزكاة/حدیث: 353]
