Narrated Abdullah bin Zaid bin Abd Rabbihi (may Allah be pleased with him): When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered a bell to be struck to gather people for prayer, a man appeared to me in a dream carrying a bell in his hand. I said to him: 'O servant of Allah, will you sell the bell?' He asked: 'What will you do with it?' I said: 'We will use it to call people to prayer.' He said: 'Shall I not guide you to something better than that?' I said: 'Yes indeed.' He said: 'You should say: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah. Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulullah, Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulullah. Hayya alas-Salah, Hayya alas-Salah. Hayya alal-Falah, Hayya alal-Falah. Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. La ilaha illa Allah.' Then he stepped back a short distance and said: 'And when you establish the prayer, say: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah. Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulullah. Hayya alas-Salah. Hayya alal-Falah. Qad qamatis-Salah, Qad qamatis-Salah. Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. La ilaha illa Allah.' When morning came, I went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and informed him of what I had seen. He said: 'This is a true vision, if Allah wills. Stand with Bilal and teach him what you saw, for he has a louder voice than you.' I stood with Bilal and began teaching him, and he called the Adhan with it. Umar bin Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) heard this while in his house, and he came out dragging his cloak, saying: 'By the One Who sent you with the truth, O Messenger of Allah! I saw the same as he saw.' The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'All praise is due to Allah.'"

سیدنا عبد اللہ بن زید بن عبدربہ رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے جب لوگوں کو نماز کے لیے جمع کرنے کی غرض سے ناقوس بجانے کا حکم دیا، تو میں نے خواب میں ایک آدمی کو ہاتھ میں ناقوس پکڑے دیکھا اور اسے کہا: اللہ کے بندے! اسے فروخت کرو گے؟ اس نے پوچھا: آپ اسے کیا کریں گے؟ میں نے کہا: ہم اس کے ذریعے نماز کے لیے بلایا کریں گے، اس نے کہا: میں اس سے بہتر چیز نہ بتاؤں، میں نے کہا: ضرور بتائیں! اس نے کہا: یوں کہا کریں:«اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، أَشْهَدُ أَن لَّا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَّسُولُ اللهِ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَّسُولُ اللهِ، حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ، حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ، حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ، حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ .»پھر اس نے تھوڑی دور جا کر کہا: اقامت یوں کہیں:«اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لا إِلهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ، حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ، حَيَّ عَلَى الفَلَاح، قَدْ قَامَتِ الصَّلَاةُ، قَدْ قَامَتِ الصَّلَاةُ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ .»صبح ہوئی، تو میں نے نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی خدمت میں حاضر ہو کر خواب بیان کیا، فرمایا:«ان شاء الله!»یہ سچا خواب ہے، بلال (رضی اللہ عنہ) کے ساتھ کھڑے ہو جائے اور جو کچھ آپ نے دیکھا ہے، انہیں بتاتے جائیں، وہ اذان دیں گے، کیوں کہ ان کی آواز آپ سے بلند ہے۔ سیدنا عبد اللہ بن زید رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ میں سیدنا بلال رضی اللہ عنہ کے ساتھ کھڑا ہو کر انہیں بتاتا جاتا اور وہ اذان دیتے جاتے۔ سیدنا عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نے اپنے گھر میں یہ کلمات سنے، تو (جلدی سے) اپنی چادر گھسیٹتے ہوئے باہر تشریف لائے اور کہنے لگے: اس ذات کی قسم، جس نے آپ کو سچا رسول بنا کر بھیجا ہے! اللہ کے رسول! میں نے بھی ایسا ہی خواب دیکھا ہے۔ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا: اللہ تعالیٰ کا شکر ہے۔[المنتقى ابن الجارود/كتاب الصلاة/حدیث: 158]
