أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا أَقْرَأُ اللَّيْلَةَ سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ إِذْ سَمِعْتُ وَجْبَةً مِنْ خَلْفِي فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّ فَرَسِي انْطَلَقَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اقْرَأْ يَا أَبَا عَتِيكٍ» فَالْتَفَتُّ فَإِذَا مِثْلُ الْمِصْبَاحِ مُدَلًّى بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «اقْرَأْ يَا أَبَا عَتِيكٍ» فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَمَا اسْتَطَعْتُ أَنْ أَمْضِيَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «تِلْكَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ نَزَلَتْ لِقِرَاءَةِ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ أَمَا إِنَّكَ لَوْ مَضَيْتَ لَرَأَيْتَ الْعَجَائِبَ»
English Translation
Ahmad bin Ali bin al-Muthanna narrated to us, Affan narrated to us, Hammad bin Salamah narrated to us from Thabit from Anas who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) fell from a horse and his right side was scraped. We visited him, and the time for prayer came, so he prayed with us sitting, and we prayed behind him sitting. When he finished, he said: 'The imam is appointed only to be followed. So when he says the takbir, say the takbir. And when he bows, bow. And when he says: Sami'a Allahu liman hamidah, say: Rabbana wa laka al-hamd. And when he prostrates, prostrate. And when he prays sitting, all of you pray sitting.'
