English Translation
Ahmad ibn Ali ibn al-Muthanna informed us, Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Muqaddimi narrated to us, Wahb ibn Jarir narrated to us, my father narrated to us from Humayd ibn Hilal from Abu Qatadah from Usayr ibn Jabir who said: A wind blew while we were with Abdullah, and Ibn Mas'ud became angry until we recognized the anger in his face. He said: "Woe to you! Indeed, the Hour will not be established until no inheritance is divided and no spoils bring joy." Then he pointed with his hand toward Syria and said: "An enemy will gather against the Muslims from there, and they will meet. An army of death will be selected that will not return except victorious. They will fight until the sun sets, then both sides will retreat, neither being victorious, and the army will be annihilated. Then on the next day, an army of death will be selected that will not return except victorious. They will fight until the sun sets, then both sides will retreat, neither being victorious, and the army will be annihilated. Then on the third day, an army of death will be selected that will not return except victorious. They will fight until the sun sets, then both sides will retreat, neither being victorious, and the army will be annihilated. Then they will meet on the fourth day and fight them and defeat them until the blood reaches the chests of the horses. They will fight until members of one family who were a hundred will be killed until not one man remains. So what inheritance will be divided after this, and what spoils will bring joy? Then they will conquer Constantinople. While they are dividing the dinars with shields, a greater alarm than that will come to them: 'The Dajjal has appeared among your offspring!' So they will abandon what is in their hands and return, and they will send a vanguard of horsemen." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "They on that day will be the best horsemen on earth. Indeed, I know their names, their fathers' names, their tribes, and the colors of their horses."
