أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَدِيثَيْنِ فَرَأَيْتُ أَحَدَهُمَا وَأَنَا أَنْتَظِرُ الْآخَرَ حَدَّثَنَا «أَنَّ الْأَمَانَةَ نَزَلَتْ فِي جَذْرِ قُلُوبِ الرِّجَالِ وَنَزَلَ الْقُرْآنُ فَعَلِمُوا مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ وَعَلِمُوا مِنَ السُّنَّةِ»
English Translation
Abdullah ibn Muhammad al-Azdi informed us, Ishaq ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, Isa ibn Yunus narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us from Shaqiq from Abd Allah who said: Once while the Prophet (peace be upon him) was distributing something, a man came and looked intently. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever wants to look at a man from the people of Hellfire, let him look at this one." A man from the people followed him, and he was distributing. Then the man said: I will definitely inform the Prophet (peace be upon him) about him. So the man turned back and said: O Messenger of Allah, I was about to kill him. He said: "Are you one of those who perform prayer?" He said: Yes. He said: "Perform prayer, for indeed prayer is only for Allah, and it is only that Satan has appeared to you in a form at which people are frightened."
