أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ سِنَانٍ الْقَطَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ كُرَيْبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ كُنَّا فِي الْحَمَّامِ قُبَيْلَ الْأَضْحَى فَإِذَا أُنَاسٌ قَدِ اطَّلَوْا فَقَالَ بَعْضُ مَنْ فِي الْحَمَّامِ إِنَّ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ يَكْرَهُ هَذَا وَيَنْهَى عَنْهُ قَالَ فَلَقِيتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ ابْنَ أَخِي إِنَّ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ قَدْ نُسِيَ حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا دَخَلَ الْعَشْرُ وَعِنْدَ أَحَدِكُمْ ذِبْحٌ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَذْبَحَهُ فَلْيُمْسِكْ عَنْ شَعْرِهِ وَأَظْفَارِهِ»
English Translation
Abu Khalifah informed us, saying: Abd Allah ibn Yazid al-Muqri narrated to us, saying: Haywa ibn Shurayh narrated to us, saying: Baqiyyah narrated to us from Bahr ibn Sa'd from Khalid ibn Ma'dan from Abd al-Rahman ibn Ghanam from Mu'adh ibn Jabal that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him when he sent him to Yemen: 'You will come to a people from among the People of the Book, so let the first thing you call them to be the worship of Allah alone. If they know Allah, inform them that Allah has obligated upon them five prayers in every day and night. If they obey you in that, inform them that Allah has obligated charity upon them to be taken from their rich and given to their poor.'
