English Translation
Al-Sami, Umar ibn Sa'id, and al-Fadl ibn al-Hubab informed us, Ahmad ibn Abi Bakr al-Zuhri narrated to us, from Malik, from Ibn Shihab, from Ata ibn Yazid, from Abu Ayyub al-Ansari that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'It is not permissible for a Muslim man to abandon his brother for more than three nights. They meet and this one turns away and that one turns away. The better of them is the one who begins with the greeting.'
