أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ الرِّشْكِ عَنْ مُعَاذَةَ الْعَدَوِيَّةِ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا يَحِلُّ لِمُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يُصَارِمَ مُسْلِمًا فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ وَإِنَّهُمَا نَاكِبَانِ عَنِ الْحَقِّ مَا كَانَا عَلَى صِرَامِهِمَا وَإِنَّ أَوَّلَهُمَا فَيْئًا يَكُونُ سَبْقُهُ بِالْفَيْءِ كَفَّارَةً لَهُ وَإِنْ سَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ فَلَمْ يَقْبَلْ سَلَامَهُ رَدَّتْ عَلَيْهِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَرَدَّ عَلَى الْآخَرِ الشَّيْطَانُ وَإِنْ مَاتَا عَلَى صِرَامِهِمَا لَمْ يَدْخُلَا الْجَنَّةَ وَلَمْ يَجْتَمِعَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ»
English Translation
Abu Ya'la informed us, Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Abu Amir al-Aqadi narrated to us, Shu'ba narrated to us, from Yazid al-Rishk, from Mu'adha al-Adawiyya, from Hisham ibn Amir who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying: 'It is not permissible for a Muslim to shun a Muslim for more than three days. While they are in their state of estrangement, they are both deviating from the truth. The first of them to reconcile, his precedence in reconciliation will be an expiation for him. If he greets him and he does not accept his greeting, the angels will return it to him and the devil will return it to the other. If they die while estranged, neither will enter Paradise nor will they meet in Paradise.'
