Hadrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated: Hadrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be well pleased with him) went out at midday to the mosque. Hadrat Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) heard about it and asked, "O Abu Bakr, what has brought you out at this hour?" He said, "Nothing brought me out except the severe hunger I feel." He said, "By Allah, nothing brought me out either except the same." While they were in that state, the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came out upon them and stated: "What has brought you two out at this hour?" They said, "By Allah, nothing brought us out except the severe hunger we feel in our bellies." He stated: "And I too, by Him in Whose hand is my soul, nothing brought me out except the same. So get up." They went until they came to the door of Hadrat Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be well pleased with him). Abu Ayyub used to save food or milk for the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), but he was delayed that day and did not come at his usual time. So Abu Ayyub gave it to his family and went to his palm grove to work. When they reached the door, his wife came out and said, "Welcome to the Prophet of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and those with him." The Prophet of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) asked her: "Where is Abu Ayyub?" He heard him while working in his palm grove and came running. He said, "Welcome to the Prophet of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and those with him. O Prophet of Allah, this is not the time you usually come." The Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "You speak the truth." So Abu Ayyub went and cut a bunch from the palm tree containing dried dates, ripe dates, and unripe dates. The Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "I did not want this; why did you not just pick some of the dried dates for us?" He said, "O Prophet of Allah, I wanted you to eat from its dried dates, ripe dates, and unripe dates. And I shall slaughter something for you along with this." He stated: "If you slaughter, do not slaughter a milking animal." So he took a young goat or a kid and slaughtered it, and said to his wife: "Bake and knead for us, for you know best about baking." He took the kid, cooked half of it, and roasted the other half. When the food was ready, it was placed before the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and his Companions. He took a piece of the kid and placed it in a loaf of bread and stated: "O Abu Ayyub, deliver this to Fatimah, for she has not had the like of this for days." Abu Ayyub took it to Fatimah. When they had eaten and were satisfied, the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "Bread, meat, dates, unripe dates, and ripe dates" -- and his eyes filled with tears -- "By Him in Whose hand is my soul, this is the bounty about which you will be asked. Allah the Exalted said: 'Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.' [Surah al-Takathur: 8] This is the bounty about which you will be asked on the Day of Resurrection." This weighed heavily on his Companions, so he stated: "Rather, when you receive something like this and put your hands to it, say 'Bismillah' (in the name of Allah), and when you are satisfied, say 'Praise be to Allah Who has satisfied us and bestowed favor upon us and excelled,' for this is the sufficiency for it." When he stood up, he said to Abu Ayyub: "Come to us tomorrow." And the Prophet would always want to reciprocate anyone who did him a kindness. Abu Ayyub did not hear that, so Hadrat Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) told him: The Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) has commanded you to come to him tomorrow. So he came the next day, and the Prophet gave him a slave girl and stated: "O Abu Ayyub, treat her well, for we saw nothing but good from her as long as she was with us." When Abu Ayyub brought her from the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), he said: I can find nothing better for the recommendation of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) than to free her. So he freed her.

حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے: حضرت ابو بکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ دوپہر کو مسجد کی طرف نکلے۔ حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو خبر ہوئی تو فرمایا: اے ابو بکر! اس وقت کیا چیز آپ کو باہر لائی؟ فرمایا: مجھے شدید بھوک کے سوا کسی چیز نے نہیں نکالا۔ فرمایا: اللہ کی قسم! مجھے بھی اس کے سوا کسی چیز نے نہیں نکالا۔ وہ دونوں اسی حال میں تھے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ان کے پاس تشریف لائے اور ارشاد فرمایا: تم دونوں کو اس وقت کس چیز نے نکالا؟ انہوں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کی قسم! ہمیں صرف شدید بھوک نے نکالا ہے۔ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: اس ذات کی قسم جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے، مجھے بھی اس کے سوا کسی چیز نے نہیں نکالا۔ تو اٹھو۔ وہ چلے یہاں تک کہ حضرت ابو ایوب انصاری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے دروازے پر آئے۔ ابو ایوب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے لیے کھانا یا دودھ بچا کر رکھا کرتے تھے، لیکن اس دن آپ کو تاخیر ہوئی اور وقت پر نہ آئے تو اپنے گھر والوں کو کھلا دیا اور اپنے کھجور کے باغ میں کام کرنے چلے گئے۔ جب وہ دروازے پر پہنچے تو ان کی بیوی نکلیں اور کہا: نبی اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اور ان کے ساتھیوں کو خوش آمدید۔ نبی اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ان سے پوچھا: ابو ایوب کہاں ہیں؟ انہوں نے سنا جبکہ وہ اپنے کھجور کے باغ میں کام کر رہے تھے تو دوڑتے ہوئے آئے اور کہا: نبی اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اور ان کے ساتھیوں کو خوش آمدید۔ یا نبی اللہ! یہ وہ وقت نہیں جب آپ آیا کرتے تھے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: تم نے سچ کہا۔ فرماتے ہیں: وہ گئے اور کھجور کا ایک گچھا کاٹ لائے جس میں خشک کھجور، پکی کھجور اور کچی کھجور سب تھیں۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: مجھے اس کی ضرورت نہ تھی، تم نے ہمارے لیے خشک کھجوریں ہی کیوں نہ توڑیں؟ انہوں نے عرض کیا: یا نبی اللہ! میں نے چاہا کہ آپ اس کی خشک، پکی اور کچی کھجوریں سب تناول فرمائیں اور میں اس کے ساتھ آپ کے لیے ذبح بھی کروں گا۔ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: اگر ذبح کرو تو دودھ دینے والی مت ذبح کرنا۔ تو انہوں نے ایک بکری کا بچہ یا بکرا لیا اور ذبح کیا اور اپنی بیوی سے کہا: ہمارے لیے آٹا گوندھو اور روٹی پکاؤ، تم روٹی پکانا بہتر جانتی ہو۔ انہوں نے بکرے کو لیا، آدھا پکایا اور آدھا بھونا۔ جب کھانا تیار ہوا تو نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اور ان کے صحابہ کے سامنے رکھا گیا۔ آپ نے بکرے کا ایک ٹکڑا لیا اور روٹی میں رکھ کر ارشاد فرمایا: اے ابو ایوب! یہ فاطمہ کو پہنچا دو، کیونکہ اس نے کئی دنوں سے ایسا کھانا نہیں کھایا۔ ابو ایوب اسے فاطمہ کے پاس لے گئے۔ جب سب نے کھایا اور سیر ہو گئے تو نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: روٹی، گوشت، کھجور، کچی کھجور اور پکی کھجور -- اور آپ کی آنکھوں سے آنسو بہہ نکلے -- اس ذات کی قسم جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے، یہی وہ نعمت ہے جس کے بارے میں تم سے پوچھا جائے گا۔ اللہ جل و علا نے فرمایا: پھر ضرور تم سے اس دن نعمتوں کے بارے میں پوچھا جائے گا۔ [سورۃ التکاثر: 8] یہی وہ نعمت ہے جس کے بارے میں تم سے قیامت کے دن سوال ہو گا۔ یہ بات صحابہ پر بھاری گزری تو آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: بلکہ جب تمہیں ایسا کچھ ملے اور تم اس پر ہاتھ لگاؤ تو بسم اللہ کہو اور جب سیر ہو جاؤ تو کہو: الحمد للہ الذی ہو اشبعنا وانعم علینا وافضل (سب تعریف اللہ کے لیے ہے جس نے ہمیں سیر کیا اور ہم پر نعمت کی اور فضل کیا) کیونکہ یہ اس کا کفارہ ہے۔ جب آپ اٹھنے لگے تو ابو ایوب سے ارشاد فرمایا: کل ہمارے پاس آنا۔ آپ کے ساتھ جو بھی بھلائی کرتا آپ اس کا بدلہ دینا پسند فرماتے تھے۔ ابو ایوب نے یہ نہیں سنا تو حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے ان سے کہا: نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے تمہیں حکم دیا ہے کہ کل آنا۔ تو وہ اگلے دن آئے اور آپ نے انہیں ایک لونڈی عطا فرمائی اور ارشاد فرمایا: اے ابو ایوب! اس کے ساتھ اچھا سلوک کرنا کیونکہ جب تک یہ ہمارے پاس رہی ہم نے اس سے بھلائی ہی دیکھی۔ جب ابو ایوب اسے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس سے لائے تو کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی وصیت کے لیے اس سے بہتر کچھ نہیں پاتا کہ اسے آزاد کر دوں۔ تو انہوں نے اسے آزاد کر دیا۔
