English Translation
'Abbas ibn Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi narrated that he was in a gathering that included his father, who was one of the Prophet's companions, and in the gathering were Abu Hurairah, Abu Usayd, and Abu Humayd al-Sa'idi from the Ansar. They mentioned the prayer, and Abu Humayd said: 'I know best among you the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).' They said, 'Show us.' He stood to pray while they watched. He began with the takbir and raised his hands level with his shoulders, then said the takbir for bowing and raised his hands also, then placed his hands firmly on his knees, neither raising nor lowering his head. Then he raised his head and said: Allah hears the one who praises Him, O Allah our Lord, to You is the praise. Then he raised his hands, then said: Allahu Akbar and prostrated, supporting himself on his palms, knees, and the fronts of his feet while prostrating. Then he said the takbir and sat, leaning on one of his feet and raising the other foot. Then he said the takbir and prostrated the other prostration, then said the takbir and stood without leaning to the side. Then he returned and bowed the other rak'ah, saying the takbir likewise. Then he sat after two rak'ahs. When he intended to stand, he said the takbir, then bowed the last two rak'ahs. When he gave the salutation, he gave it to his right: Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah, and gave it to his left: Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.' Al-Hasan ibn al-Hurr said: 'Isa also narrated to me in the gathering regarding the tashahhud that he should place his left hand on his left thigh, and place his right hand on his right thigh, then point with one finger in supplication.'
