أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ بَيْنَا هُوَ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ إِذْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَنَادَاهُ عُمَرُ أَيُّ سَاعَةٍ هَذِهِ؟ قَالَ إِنِّي شُغِلْتُ الْيَوْمَ فَلَمْ أَنْقَلِبْ إِلَى أَهْلِي حَتَّى سَمِعْتُ النِّدَاءَ فَلَمْ أَزِدْ عَلَى أَنْ تَوَضَّأْتُ قَالَ عُمَرُ وَالْوُضُوءُ أَيْضًا وَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْغُسْلِ»
English Translation
Hadrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated that Hadrat Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be well pleased with him) was delivering the Friday sermon when a man from the Companions of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) entered. Hadrat Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) called out to him: 'What time is this?' He said: 'I was busy today and did not return to my family until I heard the call to prayer, and I did nothing more than perform ablution.' Hadrat Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: 'Only ablution? And you know that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to command taking a bath.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ جمعہ کے دن خطبہ دے رہے تھے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ایک صحابی اندر آئے۔ حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے ان سے پکار کر کہا: یہ کون سا وقت ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: آج مجھے مصروفیت رہی اور میں اپنے گھر نہیں پلٹا یہاں تک کہ اذان سنی تو میں نے صرف وضو کیا۔ حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: صرف وضو؟ حالانکہ تم جانتے ہو کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم غسل کا حکم فرماتے تھے۔
