Hadrat Laqit ibn 'Amir (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated that he set out as a delegate to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), accompanied by Nahik ibn 'Asim ibn Malik ibn al-Muntafiq. He said: We arrived in Madinah at the end of Rajab. We prayed the morning prayer with him, then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stood among the people as a speaker and said: "O people, I have been saving my voice for four days so that you may hear me. Is there anyone whom his people have sent saying: 'Learn for us what the Messenger of Allah says'? Yet perhaps the talk of his own soul or the talk of his companion distracts him, or misguidance distracts him. Indeed I will be asked: 'Did you convey?' So listen and you shall live! Listen and you shall live! Sit down." So the people sat, and my companion and I stood until his heart and gaze were free for us. I submitted: "O Messenger of Allah, I wish to ask you about my need, so do not rush me." He stated: "Ask whatever you wish." I submitted: "O Messenger of Allah, do you have any knowledge of the unseen?" He laughed — by Allah's life — and shook his head, knowing that I was testing him. He stated: "Your Lord has kept exclusive five keys of the unseen that none knows but Allah." And he gestured with his hand. I submitted: "What are they, O Messenger of Allah?" He stated: "The knowledge of death — He knows when the death of any of you is, while you do not know. The knowledge of the day of rain — He looks upon you in desperation and anxiety, then He laughs, having known that your relief is near." Laqit said: I submitted: "O Messenger of Allah, we shall never lack goodness from a Lord who laughs!" "And He knows what is in tomorrow — He has already known what you will eat tomorrow while you do not know. And He knows the day of the Hour." He said: And I think he also mentioned what is in the wombs.

حضرت لقیط بن عامر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ وہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس وفد بن کر گئے اور اُن کے ساتھ نہیک بن عاصم بن مالک بن المنتفق تھے۔ فرماتے ہیں: ہم رجب کے آخر میں مدینہ پہنچے اور آپ کے ساتھ صبح کی نماز پڑھی۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم لوگوں میں خطیب بن کر کھڑے ہوئے اور فرمایا: «اے لوگو! میں نے چار دن سے اپنی آواز بچا کر رکھی ہے تاکہ تمہیں سناؤں۔ کیا کوئی ایسا شخص ہے جسے اُس کی قوم نے بھیجا ہو کہ جان لو رسول اللہ کیا فرماتے ہیں؟ پھر شاید اُسے اپنے نفس کی بات یا اپنے ساتھی کی بات مشغول کر دے یا گمراہی مشغول کر دے۔ آگاہ ہو! مجھ سے پوچھا جائے گا: کیا تم نے پہنچا دیا؟ پس سنو اور زندہ رہو! سنو اور زندہ رہو! بیٹھ جاؤ۔» لوگ بیٹھ گئے اور میں اور میرا ساتھی کھڑے رہے۔ جب آپ کا دل اور نظر ہمارے لیے فارغ ہوئی تو میں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! میں آپ سے اپنی حاجت پوچھنا چاہتا ہوں، مجھ پر جلدی نہ فرمائیں۔ فرمایا: «جو چاہو پوچھو۔» میں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! کیا آپ کے پاس علمِ غیب ہے؟ آپ نے بخدا ہنس کر سر ہلایا اور جان لیا کہ میں آپ کی آزمائش کر رہا ہوں۔ فرمایا: «تمہارے رب نے غیب کی پانچ کنجیاں اپنے پاس رکھی ہیں جنہیں اللہ کے سوا کوئی نہیں جانتا۔» اور ہاتھ سے اشارہ فرمایا۔ میں نے عرض کیا: وہ کیا ہیں یا رسول اللہ؟ فرمایا: «موت کا علم — وہ جانتا ہے تم میں سے کسی کی موت کب ہے جبکہ تم نہیں جانتے۔ بارش کے دن کا علم — وہ تمہیں بے چین اور پریشان دیکھتا ہے پھر ہنستا ہے کیونکہ وہ جانتا ہے کہ تمہاری فراخی قریب ہے۔» لقیط نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! ہم اُس رب سے کبھی خیر سے محروم نہ ہوں گے جو ہنستا ہے! «اور کل کا علم — وہ جان چکا ہے کل تم کیا کھاؤ گے جبکہ تم نہیں جانتے۔ اور قیامت کے دن کا علم۔» فرماتے ہیں: اور میرا خیال ہے آپ نے رحموں کے مضمون کا بھی ذکر فرمایا۔
