أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ السَّيَّارِيُّ ثَنَا أَبُو الْمُوَجِّهِ أَنْبَأَ عَبْدَانُ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَنْبَأَ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ الْغَسَّانِيُّ عَنْ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «الْكَيِّسُ مَنْ دَانَ نَفْسَهُ وَعَمِلَ لِمَا بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ وَالْعَاجِزُ مَنْ أَتْبَعَ نَفْسَهُ هَوَاهَا وَتَمَنَّى عَلَى اللَّهِ ﷻ»
English Translation
Hadrat Shaddad ibn Aws (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrates that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "The wise person is he who takes account of himself and works for what comes after death, and the helpless person is he who follows his desires and then places (false) hopes upon Allah, the Mighty and Majestic."
Urdu Translation
حضرت شداد بن اوس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: «عقلمند وہ ہے جو اپنے نفس کا محاسبہ کرے اور موت کے بعد کے لیے عمل کرے، اور عاجز وہ ہے جو اپنے نفس کو خواہشات کے پیچھے چلائے اور اللہ عزوجل سے (جھوٹی) تمنائیں لگائے۔»
