It was narrated from Abu Salih al-Hanafi that It was said to ‘Ali and Abu Bakr ؓ on the day of Badr. Jibreel is with one of you and Mikaʿeel is with the other, and Israfeel, a mighty angel, is present at the fight - or he said, is present in the ranks. (Using translation from Aḥmad 1257) حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذَ الْعَدْلُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ وَخَلَّادُ بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَا ثنا مِسْعَرٌ عَنْ أَبِي عَوْنٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ الْحَنَفِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ قَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَلِأَبِي بَكْرٍ «مَعَ أَحَدِكُمَا جِبْرِيلُ وَمَعَ الْآخَرِ مِيكَائِيلُ وَإِسْرَافِيلُ مَلَكٌ عَظِيمٌ يَشْهَدُ الْقِتَالَ وَيَكُونُ فِي الصَّفِّ»
