Arabic (Original)
أَخْبَرَنَا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عِيسَى ، عَنْ عِيسَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعِنْدَهُ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، فَأَخَذَ تَمْرَةً مِنْ تَمْرِ الصَّدَقَةِ فَانْتَزَعَهَا مِنْهُ، وَقَالَ : " أَمَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّهُلَا تَحِلُّ لَنَا الصَّدَقَةُ "
English Translation
Hadrat Abu Layla (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: I was in the presence of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and Hadrat Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be well pleased with him) was with him. He picked up a date from the dates of Zakat, so the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) took it away from him and said: "Did you not know that charity (Zakat) is not permissible for us?"
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابو لیلیٰ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: میں نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس تھا اور آپ کے پاس حضرت حسن بن علی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما بھی تھے۔ انہوں نے زکوٰۃ کی کھجوروں میں سے ایک کھجور اٹھائی تو آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے وہ ان سے چھین لی اور فرمایا: "کیا تمہیں معلوم نہیں کہ ہمارے لیے صدقہ (زکوٰۃ) حلال نہیں ہے؟"
