أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : أَنَّ الْيَهُودَ كَانُوا إِذَا حَاضَتْ الْمَرْأَةُ فِيهِمْ لَمْ يُؤَاكِلُوهَا، وَلَمْ يُشَارِبُوهَا، وَأَخْرَجُوهَا مِنْ الْبَيْتِ، وَلَمْ تَكُنْ مَعَهُمْ فِي الْبُيُوتِ، فَسُئِلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى # وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْمَحِيضِ قُلْ هُوَ أَذًى سورة البقرة آية 222 #، فَأَمَرَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" أَنْ يُؤَاكِلُوهُنَّ، وَأَنْ يُشَارِبُوهُنَّ، وَأَنْ يَكُنَّ مَعَهُمْ فِي الْبُيُوتِ، وَأَنْ يَفْعَلُوا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ مَا خَلَا النِّكَاحَ "، فَقَالَتْ الْيَهُودُ : مَا يُرِيدُ هَذَا أَنْ يَدَعَ شَيْئًا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا إِلَّا خَالَفَنَا فِيهِ، فَجَاءَ عَبَّادُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ، وَأُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرَاهُ بِذَلِكَ، وَقَالَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَفَلَا نَنْكِحُهُنَّ فِي الْمَحِيضِ؟ " فَتَمَعَّرَ وَجْهُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَمَعُّرًا شَدِيدًا حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ وَجَدَ عَلَيْهِمَا، فَقَامَا، فَخَرَجَا "، هَدِيَّةُ لَبَنٍ " فَبَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي آثَارِهِمَا فَرَدَّهُمَا فَسَقَاهُمَا "، فَعَلِمْنَا أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَغْضَبْ عَلَيْهِمَا
English Translation
Hadrat Anas (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated: The Jews, when a woman among them would menstruate, would not eat with her, nor drink with her, and would expel her from the house, and she would not be with them in the houses. The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was asked about this, and Allah the Exalted revealed: 'They ask you about menstruation. Say: It is a harm' (Surah al-Baqarah 2:222). So the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) commanded them to eat with them, to drink with them, to let them stay with them in the houses, and to do everything except intercourse. The Jews said: "He does not want to leave anything of our practice without opposing us in it." Then Hadrat Abbad ibn Bishr and Hadrat Usayd ibn Hudayr (may Allah be well pleased with them both) came to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), informed him of this, and submitted: "O Messenger of Allah, should we not then have intercourse with them during menstruation?" The face of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) changed so severely that we thought he was angry with them. They stood up and left. Then a gift of milk came, and the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) sent after them, brought them back, and gave them to drink. So we knew that he was not angry with them.
Urdu Translation
حضرت انس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے: یہود میں جب کسی عورت کو حیض آتا تو وہ اس کے ساتھ نہ کھاتے، نہ پیتے، اسے گھر سے نکال دیتے اور گھروں میں ساتھ نہ رکھتے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے اس بارے میں پوچھا گیا تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے نازل فرمایا: 'آپ سے حیض کے بارے میں پوچھتے ہیں۔ فرما دیجیے: وہ ایک تکلیف ہے' (سورہ البقرہ 2:222)۔ پس رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے حکم فرمایا کہ ان کے ساتھ کھاؤ پیو، گھروں میں ساتھ رکھو، اور جماع کے سوا سب کچھ کرو۔ یہود نے کہا: یہ ہماری کسی بات کو نہیں چھوڑنا چاہتا مگر ہماری مخالفت کرتا ہے۔ پھر حضرت عباد بن بشر اور حضرت اسید بن حضیر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس آئے اور بتایا اور عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! کیا ہم حیض میں ان سے جماع نہ کریں؟ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا چہرہ اتنا بدل گیا کہ ہم نے سمجھا آپ ان دونوں سے ناراض ہو گئے۔ وہ اٹھ کر چلے گئے۔ پھر دودھ کا تحفہ آیا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ان کے پیچھے بھیجا، واپس بلایا اور دودھ پلایا۔ تب ہمیں معلوم ہوا کہ آپ ان سے ناراض نہیں تھے۔
