Arabic (Original)
أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ ، عَنْ الْمَسْعُودِيِّ ، عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ :" مَا أُحِبُّ أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَخْتَلِفُوا، فَإِنَّهُمْ لَوْ اجْتَمَعُوا عَلَى شَيْءٍ، فَتَرَكَهُ رَجُلٌ، تَرَكَ السُّنَّةَ، وَلَوْ اخْتَلَفُوا، فَأَخَذَ رَجُلٌ بِقَوْلِ أَحَدٍ، أَخَذَ بِالسُّنَّةِ "
English Translation
Awn ibn Abdullah stated: "I would not like it if the Companions of the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) had not differed. For if they had all agreed on one thing and a man left it, he would have left the Sunnah. But when they differed, and a man took the opinion of one of them, he took the Sunnah."
Urdu Translation
عون بن عبداللہ نے فرمایا: "میں یہ پسند نہیں کرتا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے صحابہ میں اختلاف نہ ہوتا۔ کیونکہ اگر وہ سب ایک بات پر متفق ہوتے اور کوئی شخص اسے چھوڑتا تو اس نے سنت چھوڑ دی ہوتی۔ لیکن جب انہوں نے اختلاف کیا اور کسی شخص نے ان میں سے کسی ایک کی رائے لی تو اس نے سنت لی۔"
