English Translation
Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said while on the pulpit, speaking about charity and abstaining from begging: "The upper hand is better than the lower hand. The upper hand is the one that gives, and the lower hand is the one that begs."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا اور اس وقت آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلممنبر پر تھے اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمصدقہ کا اور سوال سے بچنے کا ذکر کر رہے تھے:”اوپر والا ہاتھ نیچے والے ہاتھ سے بہتر ہے اوپر والا ہاتھ تو دینے والا ہے اور نیچے والا ہاتھ مانگنے والا ہے۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 722]
