English Translation
Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The adhan of Bilal should not prevent any of you from eating your suhur (pre-dawn meal), for he gives the adhan during the night so that those who are praying tahajjud may return (to rest) and those who are sleeping may be alerted. Dawn has not come when it appears like this" — and the Prophet pointed with his fingers, raising them upward and then lowering them — "but rather when it appears like this" — spreading them sideways, indicating the horizontal spread of the true dawn.
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے روایت کرتے ہیں کہآپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”تم میں سے کسی کو بلال (رضی اللہ عنہ) کی اذان اس کی سحری سے باز نہ رکھے اس لیے کہ وہ رات کو اذان کہہ دیتے ہیں تاکہ تم میں سے تہجد پڑھنے والا (بغرض آرام) لوٹ جائے اور تاکہ تم میں سے سونے والے کو بیدار کر دیں اور یہ نہیں ہے کہ کوئی شخص کہے کہ صبح (ہو گئی) اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اپنی انگلیوں سے اشارہ کیا اور ان کو اوپر کی طرف اٹھایا اور پھر نیچے کی طرف جھکا دیا یہاں تک کہ اس طرح (یعنی سفیدی پھیل جائے)، (زہیر راوی) نے اپنی دونوں شہادت کی انگلیاں ایک دوسری کے اوپر رکھیں پھر دونوں کو اپنے داہنے اور بائیں جانب پھیلایا (یعنی اس طرح ہر طرف سفیدی پھیل جائے) تب سمجھو کہ صبح ہو گئی۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 381]
