English Translation
Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): Some angels came to the Prophet (peace be upon him). He (peace be upon him) was resting at that time. Some of the angels said, "He is asleep," and some said, "His eyes sleep but his heart is awake." Then they said, "There is a parable for this companion of yours (that is, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)); relate that parable." Some of the angels said, "He is asleep," and some said, "His eyes sleep but his heart is awake." Then they said, "His likeness is that of a man who built a house and prepared food (to invite people), then sent a caller (to the people). Whoever accepts the words of that caller will both enter the house and eat the food, and whoever does not accept the words of the caller will neither enter the house nor eat the food." Then they said, "Explain it." Some said, "He is asleep," and some said, "His eyes sleep but his heart is awake." Then they explained the parable thus: the house is Paradise, and the one calling to it is Muhammad (peace be upon him). Whoever obeys Muhammad (peace be upon him) has obeyed Allah, and whoever disobeys Muhammad (peace be upon him) has in truth disobeyed Allah. And Muhammad (peace be upon him) is, as it were, the one who separates the good from the bad.
Urdu Translation
سیدنا جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیںنبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی خدمت میں (چند) فرشتے حاضر ہوئے۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماس وقت استراحت فرما رہے تھے۔ بعض فرشتوں نے کہا یہ سوتے ہیں، بعض نے کہا (ان کی) آنکھ سوتی ہے مگر دل جاگتا ہے۔ پھر وہ کہنے لگے کہ تمہارے ان صاحب (یعنی رسول کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) کی ایک مثال ہے، وہ مثال تو بیان کرو۔ بعض فرشتوں نے کہا یہ تو سوتے ہیں، بعض نے کہا آنکھ سوتی ہے مگر دل جاگتا ہے۔ پھر وہ کہنے لگے کہ ان کی مثال ایسی ہے جیسے ایک شخص نے مکان بنایا اور (لوگوں کی دعوت کے لیے) کھانا پکایا پھر ایک بلانے والے کو (لوگوں کے پاس) بھیجا۔ پس جس شخص نے اس بلانے والے کے کہنے کو قبول کیا وہ تو مکان میں بھی داخل ہو گا اور کھانا بھی کھائے گا۔ اور جو بلانے والے کے کہنے کو قبول نہ کرے گا، وہ نہ تو مکان میں داخل ہو گا اور نہ ہی کھانا کھائے گا۔ پھر انھوں نے کہا کہ اس کی توضیح کرو۔ بعض کہنے لگے یہ تو سوتے ہیں، بعض نے کہا کہ آنکھ سوتی ہے مگر دل جاگتا ہے۔ پھر انھوں نے اس مثال کی توضیح کو اس طرح بیان کیا کہ وہ مکان جنت ہے اور اس کی طرف بلانے والے”محمدصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم“ہیں۔ جس نے محمدصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی اطاعت کی اس نے اللہ کی اطاعت کی اور جس نے محمدصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی نافرمانی کی تو درحقیقت اس نے اللہ کی نافرمانی کی۔ اور محمدصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکیا ہیں گویا کہ اچھے کو برے سے جدا کرنے والے ہیں۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 2213]
