English Translation
Narrated Abdullah ibn Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him): We were with the Prophet (peace be upon him), and he (peace be upon him) was holding the hand of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! You are more beloved to me than everything except my own soul." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "No, O Umar! By the One in whose hand is my soul! Not until I am more beloved to you than even your own soul (will your faith be complete)." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Indeed, now you are more beloved to me than even my own soul." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "O Umar! Now your faith is complete."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا عبداللہ بن ہشام رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہہم نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس تھے اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمعمر رضی اللہ عنہ کا ہاتھ پکڑے ہوئے تھے۔ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کی کہ یا رسول اللہ! آپ مجھ کو سوائے میری جان کے ہر چیز سے زیادہ محبوب ہیں۔ نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”نہیں اے عمر! قسم ہے اس ذات کی جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے! جب تک کہ میں تیری جان سے بھی تجھ کو زیادہ پیارا نہ ہوں گا (تب تک تیرا ایمان کامل نہ ہو گا)۔“سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کی کہ بیشک اب آپ مجھ کو میری جان سے بھی زیادہ محبوب ہیں۔ نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”اے عمر! اب تمہارا ایمان کامل ہوا۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 2145]
