English Translation
Narrated Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): Zainab's (may Allah be pleased with her) name was formerly Barrah (meaning pious and righteous). People said that she was proclaiming her own purity, so the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) named her Zainab.
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہسیدہ زینب رضی اللہ عنہا کا نام پہلے”برہ (یعنی نیک اور صالحہ) تھا۔ لوگوں نے کہا کہ وہ اپنے نفس کی پاکی ظاہر کرتی ہیں تو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے ان کا نام زینب رکھ دیا۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 2052]
