English Translation
Narrated Zayd ibn Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him): I was on a military expedition when I heard with my own ears Abdullah ibn Ubayy ibn Salul saying, "Do not give the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) any spending or charity, so that they may abandon him; and if we return from this battle and reach Madinah, the honourable will surely expel the disgraced (that is, we will expel them)." I told this to my uncle, or to Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and he mentioned it to the Prophet (peace be upon him). He (peace be upon him) summoned me and I said what had happened. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sent for Abdullah ibn Ubayy and his companions, (and asked them, and) they swore that they had not said such a thing. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) considered me a liar and believed them. I felt such grief as I had never felt before, and I sat at home. My uncle asked, "What is the reason that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) considered you a liar and was angry with you?" At that time this verse was revealed to the Prophet (peace be upon him): "When the hypocrites come to you." So the Prophet (peace be upon him) sent for me, then recited the entire verse and said, "O Zayd! Indeed, Allah has confirmed your truthfulness."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا زید بن ارقم رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہمیں ایک غزوہ میں تھا کہ میں نے عبداللہ بن ابی ابن سلول کو اپنے کانوں سے یہ کہتے ہوئے سنا کہ تم رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ساتھیوں کو خرچ و خیرات وغیرہ نہ دو یہاں تک کہ وہ ان کا ساتھ چھوڑ دیں اور اگر ہم اس لڑائی سے لوٹ کر مدینہ پہنچے تو عزت والا ذلیل کو نکال دے گا (یعنی ہم انھیں نکل دیں گے) میں نے یہ بات اپنے چچا یا سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کو بتائی تو انھوں نے نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے ذکر کر دیا۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے مجھے بلوایا، میں نے جو بات تھی کہہ دی، پھر رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے عبداللہ بن ابی اور اس کے ساتھیوں کو بلوا بھیجا (ان سے پوچھا کہ تو) انھوں نے حلف اٹھا لیا کہ ہم نے ایسا نہیں کہا۔ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے مجھے جھوٹا کہا اور اس کی تصدیق کی۔ مجھے ایسا رنج ہوا کہ کبھی نہ ہوا تھا، میں اپنے گھر میں بیٹھ رہا۔ میرے چچا نے پوچھا کیا وجہ ہے کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے تجھے جھوٹا کہا اور تجھ پر غصہ ہوئے؟ اس وقت نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمپر یہ آیت”جب آپ کے پاس یہ منافق آتے ہیں“نازل ہوئی تو نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے مجھے بلوا بھیجا پھر پوری آیت سنائی اور فرمایا:”اے زید! بیشک اللہ نے تجھے سچا کیا۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1791]
