English Translation
Narrated Ka'b ibn Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him): (The Companions) said, "O Messenger of Allah! We have come to know how to say the salam upon you (that is, it is said in the tashahhud), but how should we invoke blessings upon you?" He (peace be upon him) said, "Say: 'O Allah! Send mercy upon Muhammad (peace be upon him) and upon his family, as You sent mercy upon the family of Ibrahim (peace be upon him); indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious. And, O Allah! Send blessing upon Muhammad (peace be upon him) and upon his family too, as You sent blessing upon the family of Ibrahim (peace be upon him); indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.'"
Urdu Translation
سیدنا کعب بن عجرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ(صحابہ نے) کہا یا رسول اللہ! آپ پر سلام پڑھنا تو ہمیں معلوم ہو گیا (یعنی التحیات میں پڑھا جاتا ہے) لیکن آپ پر درود کیسے پڑھیں؟ تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”تم پڑھو”اے اللہ! محمد (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) اور ان کی آل پر رحمت نازل فرما جیسا کہ تو نے ابراہیم (علیہ السلام) کی آل پر رحمت نازل فرمائی بیشک تو تعریف والا اور بزرگی والا ہے۔ (اور) اے اللہ! محمد (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) پر اور ان کی آل پر بھی برکت نازل فرما جیسا کہ تو نے ابراہیم (علیہ السلام) کی آل پر برکت نازل فرمائی، بیشک تو تعریف والا اور بزرگی والا ہے۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1766]
