Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ، سَمِعْتُ مُرَّةَ الْهَمْدَانِيَّ، يَقُولُ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَحْسَنَ الْحَدِيثِ كِتَابُ اللَّهِ، وَأَحْسَنَ الْهَدْىِ هَدْىُ مُحَمَّدٍ صلى الله عليه وسلم، وَشَرَّ الأُمُورِ مُحْدَثَاتُهَا، وَإِنَّ مَا تُوعَدُونَ لآتٍ، وَمَا أَنْتُمْ بِمُعْجِزِينَ.
English Translation
Adam bin Abi Iyas narrated to us, he said Shu'bah narrated to us, he said Amr bin Murrah informed us, he said I heard Murrah al-Hamdani (upon him be mercy) say: Hadrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: "The finest speech is the Book of Allah, and the finest guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and the worst of affairs are newly invented matters (innovations in religion). And verily, that which you have been promised shall surely come to pass, and you cannot escape (the decree of Allah the Almighty)."
Urdu Translation
ہم سے آدم بن ابی ایاس نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے شعبہ نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہمیں عمرو بن مرہ نے خبر دی، انہوں نے کہا میں نے مرۃ الہمدانی رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ سے سنا، انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ حضرت عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: سب سے بہترین کلام کتاب اللہ ہے، اور سب سے بہترین طریقہ محمد صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا طریقہ ہے، اور سب سے بری باتیں دین میں نئی ایجاد کردہ (بدعات) ہیں۔ اور بے شک جس چیز کا تم سے وعدہ کیا گیا ہے وہ ضرور آ کر رہے گی اور تم (اللہ عزوجل سے) عاجز نہیں کر سکتے۔
