Narrated Hadrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be well pleased with him): One night I went out and found Allah's Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) walking alone with no one accompanying him. I thought that perhaps he did not like anyone walking with him. So I walked in the shadow of the moonlight. He turned around, saw me, and asked, "Who is that?" I submitted, "Hadrat Abu Dharr, may Allah make me your ransom." He stated, "O Hadrat Abu Dharr, come here." I walked with him for a while and he stated, "Indeed, those who have much wealth will have the least on the Day of Resurrection, except the one whom Allah gave good and he spent it right, left, in front, and behind, and did good deeds with it." I walked with him a while longer and he said, "Sit here." He seated me on flat ground surrounded by stones and said, "Sit here until I return to you." He went into the stony ground until I could not see him. He was away for a long time. Then I heard him returning, saying, "Even if he stole and even if he committed adultery." When he came, I could not restrain myself and submitted, "O the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) of Allah, may Allah make me your ransom, who were you speaking to by the stony ground? I did not hear anyone responding to you." He stated, "That was Jibril (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He appeared before me by the stony ground and said: Give glad tidings to your Ummah that whoever dies without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise. I said, 'O Jibril, even if he stole and even if he committed adultery?' He said, 'Yes.' I said, 'Even if he stole and even if he committed adultery?' He said, 'Yes, and even if he drank wine.'" An-Nadr said: Shu'ba informed us, and Habib bin Abi Thabit, Al-A'mash, and 'Abdul-'Aziz bin Rufay' narrated to us from Hadrat Zaid bin Wahb similarly. Abu Hadrat 'Abdullah (Imam Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him) said: The hadith of Abu Salih from Abu Ad-Darda' is Mursal (disconnected), not authentic; we only included it for reference. The authentic hadith is that of Hadrat Abu Dharr. He was also asked about the hadith of 'Ata' bin Yasar from Abu Ad-Darda', and he said it is also Mursal, not authentic, and the authentic one is the hadith of Hadrat Abu Dharr. He said: Strike out this hadith of Abu Ad-Darda' — when he died and said La ilaha illallah at the time of death.

ہم سے قتیبہ بن سعید نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے جریر نے بیان کیا، ان سے عبدالعزیز بن رفیع نے، ان سے زید بن وہب نے اور ان سے حضرت ابوذر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: ایک رات میں باہر نکلا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اکیلے چل رہے تھے اور آپ کے ساتھ کوئی نہیں تھا۔ مجھے خیال ہوا کہ شاید آپ کسی کو ساتھ چلنا پسند نہیں فرماتے۔ میں چاند کے سائے میں چلنے لگا۔ آپ نے مڑ کر مجھے دیکھا اور ارشاد فرمایا: کون ہے؟ میں نے عرض کیا: حضرت ابوذر ہوں، اللہ مجھے آپ پر فدا کرے۔ ارشاد فرمایا: حضرت ابوذر! آؤ۔ میں آپ کے ساتھ کچھ دیر چلا تو ارشاد فرمایا: بے شک بہت مال والے قیامت کے دن کم ہوں گے سوائے اس کے جسے اللہ نے خیر عطا فرمائی اور اس نے دائیں بائیں، آگے پیچھے خرچ کیا اور اس میں نیک کام کیے۔ کچھ دیر اور ساتھ چلا تو ارشاد فرمایا: یہاں بیٹھ جاؤ۔ مجھے ایک چٹیل زمین پر بٹھایا جس کے چاروں طرف پتھر تھے اور ارشاد فرمایا: یہاں بیٹھے رہو جب تک میں تمہارے پاس واپس نہ آ جاؤں۔ آپ پتھریلی زمین میں تشریف لے گئے یہاں تک کہ نظر سے اوجھل ہو گئے۔ آپ مجھ سے کافی دیر غائب رہے، پھر میں نے سنا کہ آپ واپس آ رہے ہیں اور فرما رہے ہیں: اگرچہ اس نے چوری کی ہو اور اگرچہ اس نے زنا کیا ہو۔ جب آپ تشریف لائے تو مجھ سے صبر نہ ہوا اور میں نے عرض کیا: اے اللہ کے نبی! اللہ مجھے آپ پر فدا کرے، آپ پتھریلی زمین کے کنارے کس سے بات کر رہے تھے؟ مجھے تو آپ کی طرف کسی کا جواب نہیں سنائی دیا۔ ارشاد فرمایا: وہ جبرائیل علیہ السلام تھے، پتھریلی زمین کے کنارے میرے سامنے آئے اور فرمایا: اپنی امت کو خوشخبری سنائیں کہ جو شخص اللہ کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہ ٹھہراتے ہوئے مرا وہ جنت میں داخل ہو گا۔ میں نے کہا: اے جبرائیل! اگرچہ اس نے چوری کی ہو اور اگرچہ اس نے زنا کیا ہو؟ فرمایا: ہاں۔ میں نے کہا: اگرچہ اس نے چوری کی ہو اور اگرچہ اس نے زنا کیا ہو؟ فرمایا: ہاں، اگرچہ اس نے شراب بھی پی ہو۔ نضر نے کہا: ہمیں شعبہ نے خبر دی اور ہم سے حبیب بن ابی ثابت، اعمش اور عبدالعزیز بن رفیع نے بیان کیا، ہم سے زید بن وہب نے اسی طرح بیان کیا۔ ابوعبداللہ (امام بخاری رحمۃ اللہ علیہ) نے فرمایا: ابوصالح کی حضرت ابوالدرداء سے حدیث مرسل ہے، صحیح نہیں ہے، ہم نے صرف معرفت کے لیے لی ہے اور صحیح حدیث حضرت ابوذر کی ہے۔ ابوعبداللہ سے عطاء بن یسار کی حضرت ابوالدرداء سے حدیث کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا تو فرمایا: یہ بھی مرسل ہے، صحیح نہیں ہے، اور صحیح حدیث حضرت ابوذر کی ہے۔ اور فرمایا: حضرت ابوالدرداء کی اس حدیث پر خط لگا دو — جب وہ مرے اور اس نے لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ موت کے وقت کہا ہو۔
