It is narrated from Hadrat al-Bara' bin 'Azib (may Allah be well pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) intended to perform the 'Umrah, he sent a message to the people of Makkah asking their permission to enter. They stipulated that he would not stay more than three nights, would enter only with weapons sheathed, and would not invite any of their people to leave with him. Hadrat Ali al-Murtada (may Allah ennoble his countenance) began writing the treaty and wrote: This is what Muhammad, the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), has agreed upon. The Makkans said: If we acknowledged you as the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), we would not have prevented you — rather, we would have pledged allegiance to you. But write: This is what Muhammad bin Hadrat 'Abdullah has agreed upon. The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: By Allah, I am Muhammad bin Hadrat 'Abdullah, and by Allah, I am the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) could not write, so he said to Hadrat Ali (may Allah ennoble his countenance): Erase the words 'Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).' Hadrat Ali (may Allah ennoble his countenance) submitted: By Allah, I shall never erase it! The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: Then show it to me. So Hadrat Ali (may Allah ennoble his countenance) showed him the spot, and the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) erased it with his own blessed hand. When the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) had entered Makkah and the three days had passed, they came to Hadrat Ali (may Allah ennoble his countenance) and said: Tell your companion to depart. Hadrat Ali (may Allah ennoble his countenance) mentioned it to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), who declared: Yes. Then he departed.
Urdu Translation
حضرت براء بن عازب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے جب عمرہ کا ارادہ فرمایا تو اہلِ مکہ کے پاس اجازت کے لیے پیغام بھیجا۔ انہوں نے شرط لگائی کہ آپ تین رات سے زیادہ مکہ میں قیام نہ کریں، ہتھیار نیام میں رکھ کر داخل ہوں اور ان میں سے کسی کو (مدینہ) نہ بلائیں۔ حضرت علی المرتضیٰ کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم نے صلح نامہ لکھنا شروع کیا اور لکھا: یہ وہ فیصلہ ہے جو محمد رسول اللہ نے کیا ہے۔ مکہ والوں نے کہا: اگر ہم آپ کو رسول اللہ مانتے تو آپ کو روکتے نہ بلکہ بیعت کرتے، لکھو: یہ وہ فیصلہ ہے جو محمد بن عبداللہ نے کیا ہے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اللہ کی قسم! میں محمد بن عبداللہ ہوں اور اللہ کی قسم! میں اللہ کا رسول بھی ہوں۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم لکھنا نہیں جانتے تھے، آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے حضرت علی کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم سے فرمایا: رسول اللہ کا لفظ مٹا دو۔ حضرت علی کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم نے عرض کیا: اللہ کی قسم! میں اسے کبھی نہیں مٹاؤں گا۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: مجھے دکھاؤ۔ چنانچہ حضرت علی کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم نے آپ کو وہ جگہ دکھائی اور نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے اپنے ہاتھ مبارک سے خود مٹا دیا۔ پھر جب آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم مکہ تشریف لے گئے اور تین دن گزر گئے تو وہ حضرت علی کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم کے پاس آئے اور کہا: اپنے ساتھی سے کہو کہ اب روانہ ہو جائیں۔ حضرت علی کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے اس کا ذکر کیا تو آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: ہاں۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم وہاں سے روانہ ہو گئے۔
