حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي رَوْحُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ لِي " لَوْ قَدْ جَاءَنَا مَالُ الْبَحْرَيْنِ قَدْ أَعْطَيْتُكَ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا ". فَلَمَّا قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَجَاءَ مَالُ الْبَحْرَيْنِ قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عِدَةٌ فَلْيَأْتِنِي. فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَدْ كَانَ قَالَ لِي " لَوْ قَدْ جَاءَنَا مَالُ الْبَحْرَيْنِ لأَعْطَيْتُكَ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا ". فَقَالَ لِي احْثُهْ. فَحَثَوْتُ حَثْيَةً فَقَالَ لِي عُدَّهَا. فَعَدَدْتُهَا فَإِذَا هِيَ خَمْسُمِائَةٍ، فَأَعْطَانِي أَلْفًا وَخَمْسَمِائَةٍ. وَقَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِمَالٍ مِنَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ فَقَالَ " انْثُرُوهُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ " فَكَانَ أَكْثَرَ مَالٍ أُتِيَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذْ جَاءَهُ الْعَبَّاسُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَعْطِنِي إِنِّي فَادَيْتُ نَفْسِي وَفَادَيْتُ عَقِيلاً. قَالَ " خُذْ ". فَحَثَا فِي ثَوْبِهِ، ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ يُقِلُّهُ، فَلَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ. فَقَالَ أْمُرْ بَعْضَهُمْ يَرْفَعْهُ إِلَىَّ. قَالَ " لاَ ". قَالَ فَارْفَعْهُ أَنْتَ عَلَىَّ. قَالَ " لاَ ". فَنَثَرَ مِنْهُ، ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ يُقِلُّهُ فَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ. فَقَالَ أْمُرْ بَعْضَهُمْ يَرْفَعْهُ عَلَىَّ. قَالَ " لاَ ". قَالَ فَارْفَعْهُ أَنْتَ عَلَىَّ. قَالَ " لاَ ". فَنَثَرَ ثُمَّ احْتَمَلَهُ عَلَى كَاهِلِهِ ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَ، فَمَا زَالَ يُتْبِعُهُ بَصَرَهُ حَتَّى خَفِيَ عَلَيْنَا عَجَبًا مِنْ حِرْصِهِ، فَمَا قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَثَمَّ مِنْهَا دِرْهَمٌ.
English Translation
It is narrated from Hadrat Jabir bin Hadrat 'Abdullah (may Allah be well pleased with them both) that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) once said to me: When the revenue of Bahrain comes, I shall give you this much, this much, and this much (three handfuls). When the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) passed away and the revenue of Bahrain arrived, Hadrat Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be well pleased with him) announced: Whoever has a promise from the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), let him come to me. So I went to him and submitted: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) had said to me: When the revenue of Bahrain comes, I shall give you this much, this much, and this much. Hadrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be well pleased with him) said to me: Scoop with your hands. I scooped once and he said: Count it. I counted it and it was five hundred. Then he gave me fifteen hundred. And it is narrated from Hadrat Anas (may Allah be well pleased with him) that wealth from Bahrain was brought to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He declared: Spread it in the mosque. It was the largest amount ever brought to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). Then Hadrat al-'Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with him) came and submitted: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! Give me some, for I paid the ransom for myself and for 'Aqil. The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: Take. So he scooped into his garment, then tried to lift it but could not. He submitted: Order someone to help me lift it. The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: No. He submitted: Then you yourself lift it onto me. The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: No. So he spilled some of it, then tried to lift it but still could not. He again submitted: Order someone to help me carry it. The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: No. He submitted: Then you yourself help me carry it. The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: No. So he spilled more of it, then lifted it onto his shoulder and departed. The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) kept gazing at him in amazement at his eagerness until he disappeared from sight. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) did not rise from that place until not a single Dirham remained from that wealth.

حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مجھ سے ارشاد فرمایا تھا: جب بحرین سے مال آئے گا تو میں تمہیں اتنا، اتنا اور اتنا (تین لپ بھر کر) دوں گا۔ پھر جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا وصال ہو گیا اور بحرین کا مال آیا تو حضرت ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے اعلان فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے جس سے کوئی وعدہ فرمایا ہو وہ میرے پاس آئے۔ چنانچہ میں حاضر ہوا اور عرض کیا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مجھ سے فرمایا تھا کہ جب بحرین سے مال آئے تو تمہیں اتنا، اتنا اور اتنا دوں گا۔ تو حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے مجھ سے فرمایا: ایک لپ بھرو۔ میں نے ایک لپ بھری، تو فرمایا: شمار کرو۔ میں نے شمار کیا تو پانچ سو تھے۔ پھر انہوں نے مجھے پندرہ سو عنایت فرمائے۔ اور حضرت انس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں بحرین سے مال لایا گیا، آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اسے مسجد میں بکھیر دو۔ یہ اتنا مال تھا جتنا کبھی رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس نہیں آیا تھا۔ اتنے میں حضرت عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ آئے اور عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! مجھے دیجیے، میں نے اپنا فدیہ بھی دیا اور عقیل کا بھی۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: لے لو۔ انہوں نے اپنے کپڑے میں لپ بھر کر ڈالا، پھر اٹھانے لگے مگر نہ اٹھا سکے۔ عرض کیا: کسی کو حکم دیجیے کہ مجھ پر اٹھا دے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: نہیں۔ عرض کیا: پھر آپ خود اٹھا دیجیے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: نہیں۔ تو انہوں نے کچھ بکھیرا، پھر اٹھانے لگے مگر نہ اٹھا سکے۔ دوبارہ عرض کیا: کسی کو حکم دیجیے کہ مجھ پر اٹھا دے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: نہیں۔ عرض کیا: آپ خود اٹھا دیجیے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: نہیں۔ تو انہوں نے مزید بکھیرا، پھر اپنے کندھے پر اٹھا کر چل دیے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ان کی حرص پر تعجب سے نظر بھرتے رہے یہاں تک کہ وہ نظروں سے اوجھل ہو گئے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم وہاں سے اس وقت تک نہیں اٹھے جب تک اس مال میں سے ایک درہم بھی باقی نہیں رہا۔
