Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ كَعْبٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ وَكَانَ قَائِدَ كَعْبٍ مِنْ بَنِيهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ حِينَ تَخَلَّفَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم. وَلَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يُرِيدُ غَزْوَةً إِلاَّ وَرَّى بِغَيْرِهَا.
English Translation
It is narrated by Hadrat Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be well pleased with him) — when he stayed behind from the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) (in the expedition of Tabuk) — (he states:) Whenever the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) intended an expedition, he would conceal it by suggesting a different one (so that the enemy would not learn of it).
Urdu Translation
حضرت کعب بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے — جب وہ (غزوۂ تبوک میں) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے پیچھے رہ گئے — (فرماتے ہیں:) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم جب بھی کسی غزوے کا ارادہ فرماتے تو اس کے بجائے کسی اور کا اظہار فرماتے (تاکہ دشمن کو خبر نہ ہو)۔
