Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، أَنَّهُمَا حَدَّثَاهُ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ، أَتَى بِهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ إِنِّي نَحَلْتُ ابْنِي هَذَا غُلاَمًا. فَقَالَ " أَكُلَّ وَلَدِكَ نَحَلْتَ مِثْلَهُ ". قَالَ لاَ. قَالَ " فَارْجِعْهُ ".
English Translation
Narrated to us by Abdullah bin Yusuf, Malik informed us from Ibn Shihab, from Humaid bin Abdur-Rahman and Muhammad bin al-Nu'man bin Bashir, that they narrated from Hadrat Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be well pleased with them both) that his father brought him to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and submitted, 'I have given this son of mine a slave as a gift.' He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) asked, 'Have you given all your children a similar gift?' He submitted, 'No.' He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared, 'Then take it back.'
Urdu Translation
ہم سے عبداللہ بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، ہم کو مالک نے خبر دی، ابن شہاب سے، حمید بن عبدالرحمٰن اور محمد بن نعمان بن بشیر سے، انہوں نے حضرت نعمان بن بشیر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے بیان کیا کہ ان کے والد انہیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں لائے اور عرض کیا: میں نے اپنے اس بیٹے کو ایک غلام عطیہ میں دیا ہے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے دریافت فرمایا: کیا تم نے اپنی تمام اولاد کو اسی طرح (برابر) دیا ہے؟ عرض کیا: نہیں۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: تو اسے واپس لے لو۔
