Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ وَلَقَدْ رَهَنَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم دِرْعَهُ بِشَعِيرٍ، وَمَشَيْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِخُبْزِ شَعِيرٍ وَإِهَالَةٍ سَنِخَةٍ، وَلَقَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ " مَا أَصْبَحَ لآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِلاَّ صَاعٌ، وَلاَ أَمْسَى ". وَإِنَّهُمْ لَتِسْعَةُ أَبْيَاتٍ.
English Translation
It is narrated by Hadrat Anas (may Allah be well pleased with him) who said: The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) had mortgaged his blessed armour for barley. Once I brought barley bread and rancid fat to him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). I heard him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) state: 'The household of Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) never had more than a Sa' of grain at any morning or evening, although there were nine households.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت انس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے فرمایا: نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے اپنی زرہ مبارک جَو کے بدلے گروی رکھی تھی۔ ایک مرتبہ میں آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں جَو کی روٹی اور باسی چربی لے کر حاضر ہوا۔ میں نے آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو یہ فرماتے سنا: آلِ محمد صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے گھر میں کبھی صبح اور کبھی شام ایک صاع سے زیادہ غلہ موجود نہیں رہا، حالانکہ آپ کے نو گھر تھے۔
