حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو غَسَّانَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِقَدَحٍ فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ، وَعَنْ يَمِينِهِ غُلاَمٌ أَصْغَرُ الْقَوْمِ، وَالأَشْيَاخُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ فَقَالَ " يَا غُلاَمُ أَتَأْذَنُ لِي أَنْ أُعْطِيَهُ الأَشْيَاخَ ". قَالَ مَا كُنْتُ لأُوثِرَ بِفَضْلِي مِنْكَ أَحَدًا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ. فَأَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ.
English Translation
It is narrated from Hadrat Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be well pleased with him) who stated: A cup was brought to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and he drank from it. On his right sat a boy who was the youngest of those present, and on his left were some elderly men. The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) asked: 'O boy, do you permit me to give it to the elders first?' The boy submitted: 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! I would not give preference to anyone over me regarding what remains from you.' So the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) gave it to him.
Urdu Translation
حضرت سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے، فرماتے ہیں: نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی بارگاہ میں ایک پیالہ پیش کیا گیا اور آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے نوش فرمایا۔ آپ کی دائیں طرف ایک لڑکا بیٹھا تھا جو حاضرین میں سب سے کم عمر تھا اور بائیں طرف کچھ بزرگ بیٹھے تھے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اے لڑکے! کیا تم اجازت دیتے ہو کہ میں پہلے بزرگوں کو دے دوں؟ لڑکے نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! میں آپ کے جھوٹے میں اپنے حصے کو کسی پر ترجیح نہیں دے سکتا۔ چنانچہ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے پیالہ اسی کو عنایت فرمایا۔
