حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ، عَنْ مَخْرَمَةَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ، مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ، بَاتَ لَيْلَةً عِنْدَ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَهِيَ خَالَتُهُ فَاضْطَجَعْتُ فِي عَرْضِ الْوِسَادَةِ، وَاضْطَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَهْلُهُ فِي طُولِهَا، فَنَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَتَّى إِذَا انْتَصَفَ اللَّيْلُ، أَوْ قَبْلَهُ بِقَلِيلٍ أَوْ بَعْدَهُ بِقَلِيلٍ، اسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَجَلَسَ يَمْسَحُ النَّوْمَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ بِيَدِهِ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ الْعَشْرَ الآيَاتِ الْخَوَاتِمَ مِنْ سُورَةِ آلِ عِمْرَانَ، ثُمَّ قَامَ إِلَى شَنٍّ مُعَلَّقَةٍ، فَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْهَا فَأَحْسَنَ وُضُوءَهُ، ثُمَّ قَامَ يُصَلِّي. قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَقُمْتُ فَصَنَعْتُ مِثْلَ مَا صَنَعَ، ثُمَّ ذَهَبْتُ، فَقُمْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ، فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى رَأْسِي، وَأَخَذَ بِأُذُنِي الْيُمْنَى، يَفْتِلُهَا، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ أَوْتَرَ، ثُمَّ اضْطَجَعَ، حَتَّى أَتَاهُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ، فَقَامَ، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى الصُّبْحَ.
English Translation
Hadrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrates: One night I stayed at the house of my maternal aunt Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat Maymuna (may Allah be well pleased with her), who was the pure wife of the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). I lay across the width of the pillow while the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and his wife lay along its length. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) slept, and when it was the middle of the night — or a little before or after it — he awoke and began rubbing the traces of sleep from his face with his hands. Then he recited the last ten verses of Surah Al Imran. Then he went to a water-skin hanging from above and performed a most excellent ablution from it, then stood up to pray. Hadrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) says: I also got up and did as he had done, then went and stood beside him. He placed his right hand on my head and took hold of my right ear, twisting it gently. Then he prayed two rak'at, then two rak'at, then two rak'at, then two rak'at, then two rak'at, then two rak'at, then he prayed witr. Then he lay down until the mu'adhdhin came to him, whereupon he got up, prayed two light rak'at, and went out to lead the Fajr prayer.
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما فرماتے ہیں: ایک رات میں نے اپنی خالہ حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین میمونہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا — جو نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی زوجہ مطہرہ تھیں — کے گھر میں رات گزاری۔ میں تکیے کے عرض میں لیٹ گیا اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اور اپنی اہلیہ نے تکیے کی لمبائی پر سر رکھا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سو گئے۔ جب آدھی رات ہوئی — یا اس سے کچھ پہلے یا کچھ بعد — آپ بیدار ہوئے اور اپنے ہاتھوں سے چہرے سے نیند کے اثرات دور کرنے لگے۔ پھر سورۃ آل عمران کی آخری دس آیات تلاوت فرمائیں۔ پھر ایک لٹکے ہوئے مشکیزے کے پاس تشریف لے گئے اور اس سے خوب اچھی طرح وضو فرمایا، پھر نماز کے لیے کھڑے ہو گئے۔ حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما فرماتے ہیں: میں نے بھی اٹھ کر وہی کیا جو آپ نے کیا تھا، پھر جا کر آپ کے پہلو میں کھڑا ہو گیا۔ آپ نے اپنا دایاں ہاتھ میرے سر پر رکھا اور میرا دایاں کان پکڑ کر مروڑنے لگے۔ پھر آپ نے دو رکعتیں پڑھیں، پھر دو رکعتیں، پھر دو رکعتیں، پھر دو رکعتیں، پھر دو رکعتیں، پھر دو رکعتیں، پھر وتر پڑھا۔ پھر لیٹ گئے، یہاں تک کہ مؤذن آیا تو آپ نے اٹھ کر دو ہلکی رکعتیں پڑھیں اور باہر تشریف لا کر صبح کی نماز پڑھائی۔
