حَدَّثَنا عبيد الله بن يوسف الجبيري حَدَّثَنا سهل ابن زياد الطحان عن أيوب السختياني عن محمد بن سيرين عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قال ما خير رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ أمرين إلا اختار أيسرهماوهذا الحديثُ لا أعلم رواه إلا سهل بن زياد وهو رجل بصري حدث عنه غير واحد من أهل البصرة ليس به بأس ولم يتابع على هذا الحديث اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ أمرين إلا اختار أيسرهماوهذا الحديثُ لا أعلم رواه إلا سهل بن زياد وهو رجل بصري حدث عنه غير واحد من أهل البصرة ليس به بأس ولم يتابع على هذا الحديث
English Translation
Ubayd Allah ibn Yusuf al-Jubayri narrated to us, Sahl ibn Ziyad al-Tahhan narrated to us from Ayyub al-Sakhtiyani from Muhammad ibn Sirin from Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was never given a choice between two matters except that he chose the easier of them. And this hadith - I know of no one who narrated it except Sahl ibn Ziyad, and he is a man from Basra from whom more than one of the people of Basra narrated; there is no harm in him, but he was not corroborated in this hadith.
