English Translation

Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna Abu Musa and Amr ibn Ali narrated to us, they both stated: Muhammad ibn Fudail narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) who stated: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: «Indeed, prayer has a beginning and an end. The beginning time of Dhuhr is when the sun declines, and its end time is when the time of Asr enters. The beginning time of Asr is when its time enters, and its end time is when the sun turns yellow. The beginning time of Maghrib is when the sun sets, and its end time is when the twilight disappears. The beginning time of Isha is when its time enters, and its end time is when midnight comes. The beginning time of Fajr is when the dawn breaks, and its end time is when the sun rises.» This hadith — we do not know that anyone narrated it from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) except Muhammad ibn Fudail, and he was not followed in this. Za'idah ibn Qudamah narrates it from al-A'mash, from Mujahid as mawquf (stopped at the companion).
