وَحَدَّثَناه عبد الله بن شبيب حَدَّثَنا إبراهيم بن حمزة حَدَّثَنا عبد العزيز بن مُحَمَّد عن سهيل بن أبي صالح عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يتقاربان في حديثهما قال لما كانت غزوة تبوك أصاب الناس مجاعة فقالوا يا رسول الله لو أذنت لنا فنحرنا نواضحنا فأكلنا وادهنا قال افعلوا فجاء عمر رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فقال يا رسول الله إنك إن فعلت قل الظهر ولكن ادعوهم بفضل أزوادهم ثم ادع لهم عليه بالبركة فلعل الله يجعل في ذلك أحسبه قال خيرا قال فَدَعَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بنطع ثم دعاهم بفضل أزوادهم فجعل الرجل يجيء بكف الذرة والآخر بكف التمر والآخر بالكسرة حتى اجتمع على النطع فدعا لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بالبركة فما تركوا في العسكر وعاء إلا ملئوه وأكلوا وشبعوا وفضلت فضلة فقال النبي صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله لا يلقى الله عبد بها فيحجب عن الجنة قال لما كانت غزوة تبوك أصاب الناس مجاعة فقالوا يا رسول الله لو أذنت لنا فنحرنا نواضحنا فأكلنا وادهنا قال افعلوا فجاء عمر رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فقال يا رسول الله إنك إن فعلت قل الظهر ولكن ادعوهم بفضل أزوادهم ثم ادع لهم عليه بالبركة فلعل الله يجعل في ذلك أحسبه قال خيرا قال فَدَعَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بنطع ثم دعاهم بفضل أزوادهم فجعل الرجل يجيء بكف الذرة والآخر بكف التمر والآخر بالكسرة حتى اجتمع على النطع فدعا لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بالبركة فما تركوا في العسكر وعاء إلا ملئوه وأكلوا وشبعوا وفضلت فضلة فقال النبي صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله لا يلقى الله عبد بها فيحجب عن الجنة
English Translation
And Abdullah ibn Shubaib narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Abd al-Aziz ibn Muhammad narrated to us, from Suhail ibn Abi Salih, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) — their two narrations are close in meaning. He stated: When the expedition of Tabuk took place, the people were afflicted with hunger. They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, if you permit us, we shall slaughter our pack animals, eat them and use their fat.' He stated: «Do so.» Then Hadrat Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) came and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, if you do this, the riding animals will become few. But call them to bring the surplus of their provisions, then invoke blessing upon it. Perhaps Allah will place good in that.' The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) called for a leather mat, then called them to bring the surplus of their provisions. One man would come with a handful of corn, another with a handful of dates, another with a piece of bread, until it gathered upon the mat. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) invoked blessing for them. They did not leave a container in the army except they filled it. They ate and were satisfied, and there remained a surplus. The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: «I bear witness that there is no god but Allah. No servant will meet Allah with it without being veiled from Paradise.»
