حَدَّثَنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَال حَدَّثنا عثمان بن عُمَر قَال حَدَّثنا فُلَيْحُ بْنُ سُلَيْمان عَنْ هِلالِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَن عَطاء بن يسار عَن أبي هُرَيرة قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم إن جهنم قالت يا رب ائذن لي في نفسين فإني أخشى أَن أفيض على خلقك فأذن لها بنفسين كل سنة مَرَّتَيْنِ فشدة الحر من فيحها وشدة البرد من زمهريرها اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم إن جهنم قالت يا رب ائذن لي في نفسين فإني أخشى أَن أفيض على خلقك فأذن لها بنفسين كل سنة مَرَّتَيْنِ فشدة الحر من فيحها وشدة البرد من زمهريرها
English Translation
Amr ibn Ali narrated to us, he said: Abu Dawud narrated to us from Abdul Aziz from Suhayl from his father from Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) from the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) who stated: «The supplication of a servant is answered as long as he does not supplicate for something sinful or for the severing of family ties, and as long as he is not hasty.» It was asked: What is being hasty, O Messenger of Allah? He said: «That he says: I have supplicated and supplicated, and I do not see my supplication being answered. He then becomes frustrated at that point and abandons supplication.»
