حَدَّثنا إبراهيم بن سَعِيد الجوهري قَال حَدَّثنا عثمان بن خالد عَن إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبَةَ عَن أَبِيه عَن جَدِّه عَن أبي هُرَيرة أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم ذكر فتنة فقربها فقلنا يا رَسولَ اللهِ فإن أدركناها مع من نكون قال مع الأمين وأصحابه عثمان بن عفانوَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لا نعلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَن أَبِي هُرَيرة إلاَّ أَبُو حبيبة وقد رَوَى عَن أبي حبيبة موسى بن عقبة يحيى بن النضر عَن أبي هُرَيرة اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم ذكر فتنة فقربها فقلنا يا رَسولَ اللهِ فإن أدركناها مع من نكون قال مع الأمين وأصحابه عثمان بن عفانوَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لا نعلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَن أَبِي هُرَيرة إلاَّ أَبُو حبيبة وقد رَوَى عَن أبي حبيبة موسى بن عقبة يحيى بن النضر عَن أبي هُرَيرة
English Translation
Ibrahim ibn Said al-Jawhari narrated to us saying: Uthman ibn Khalid narrated to us from Ibrahim ibn Ismail ibn Abi Habibah from his father from his grandfather from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) mentioned a trial and brought it near. We said: 'O Messenger of Allah, if we witness it, with whom should we be?' He said: «With the trustworthy one and his companions» — meaning Uthman ibn Affan. This hadith, we do not know it to be narrated from Abu Hurairah except by Abu Habibah. Musa ibn Uqbah also narrated from Abu Habibah. Yahya ibn al-Nadr also narrated from Abu Hurairah.
