حَدَّثنا خالد بن يوسف بن خالد السمتي قَال حَدَّثنا مروان بن معاوية عن هاشم بن هاشم قَال حَدَّثنا أَبُو صالح الساعدي قال سَمِعْتُ أبا هُرَيرة يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم إن رجالا سيفرون إلى عشائرهم والمدينة خير لهم لو كانوا يعلمون والذي نفس مُحَمد بيده لا يثبت أحد فيها فيصبر على لأوائها وشدتها إلاَّ كنت له شَفِيعًا وشهيدا يوم القيامة ولاَ يخرج عنها أحد رغبة عنها إلاَّ أبدل الله مكانه من هو خير منه والذي نفس مُحَمد بيده إنها لتنفي خبث أهلها أَحسَبُهُ قال كما ينفي الكير خبث الحديدولا نعلم أسند أَبُو صالح الساعدي عَن أبي هُرَيرة إلاَّ هذا الحديث ولاَ روى عنه إلاَّ هاشم بن هاشم ولاَ يعرف لأبي صالح هذا اسم زياد بن ثُوَيب ويُقَال ثَوْب عَن أَبِي هُرَيرة اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم إن رجالا سيفرون إلى عشائرهم والمدينة خير لهم لو كانوا يعلمون والذي نفس مُحَمد بيده لا يثبت أحد فيها فيصبر على لأوائها وشدتها إلاَّ كنت له شَفِيعًا وشهيدا يوم القيامة ولاَ يخرج عنها أحد رغبة عنها إلاَّ أبدل الله مكانه من هو خير منه والذي نفس مُحَمد بيده إنها لتنفي خبث أهلها أَحسَبُهُ قال كما ينفي الكير خبث الحديدولا نعلم أسند أَبُو صالح الساعدي عَن أبي هُرَيرة إلاَّ هذا الحديث ولاَ روى عنه إلاَّ هاشم بن هاشم ولاَ يعرف لأبي صالح هذا اسم زياد بن ثُوَيب ويُقَال ثَوْب عَن أَبِي هُرَيرة
English Translation
Khalid ibn Yusuf ibn Khalid al-Samti narrated to us saying: Marwan ibn Mu'awiyah narrated to us from Hashim ibn Hashim who said: Abu Salih al-Sa'idi narrated to us who said: I heard Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) say: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: «Indeed, men will flee to their tribes, while Madinah is better for them if they only knew. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, no one perseveres in it and bears its hardship and difficulty except that I will be an intercessor and witness for him on the Day of Resurrection. No one leaves it out of aversion to it except that Allah will replace him with someone better than him. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, it expels the impurity of its people — I think he said: just as the bellows expel the impurity of iron.» We do not know that Abu Salih al-Sa'idi narrated from Abu Hurairah in a connected chain except this hadith, nor did anyone narrate from him except Hashim ibn Hashim, and no name is known for this Abu Salih. Ziyad ibn Thuwaib, also said to be Thawb, also narrated from Abu Hurairah.
