حَدَّثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبد اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ معروف بابن كردي قَال حَدَّثنا أَبُو أسامة قَال حَدَّثنا عَبد الحميد بن جعفر قَال حَدَّثنا سَعِيد الْمَقْبُرِيّ عَن عَطاء مولى أبي أحمد عَن أبي هُرَيرة قَالَ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم بعثا وهم ذو عدة فاستقرأ كل رجل منهم القرآن أو قال من القرآن فأتى على رجل من أحدثهم سنا فقال ماذا معك يا فلان قال معي كذا وكذا سورة البقرة قال معك سورة البقرة قال نعم قال فاذهب أَحسَبُهُ قال فأنت أميرهم فقال رجل والله يا رَسولَ اللهِ ما منعني أن أتعلم القرآن إلاَّ خشية أن لا أقوم به فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم اقرؤُوه وارقدوا عليه فإن مثل القرآن لمن تعلمه فقرأه وقام به كمثل جراب محشو يفوح ريحه في كل مكان ومثل من تعلمه ورقد وهُو في جوفه كمثل جراب أوكي على مسكوَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لاَ نعلمُهُ يُرْوَى عَنِ النَّبِيّ صَلَّى الله عَلَيه وَسَلَّم إلاَّ من حديث أبي هُرَيرة بهذ الإسناد وعطاء مولى أبي أحمد لا نعلمه حدث عَن أبي هُرَيرة إلاَّ هذا الحديث ولاَ حدث عنه إلاَّ سَعِيد الْمَقْبُرِيّ عطاء مولى أم صبية عَن أبي هُرَيرة ذو عدة فاستقرأ كل رجل منهم القرآن أو قال من القرآن فأتى على رجل من أحدثهم سنا فقال ماذا معك يا فلان قال معي كذا وكذا سورة البقرة قال معك سورة البقرة قال نعم قال فاذهب أَحسَبُهُ قال فأنت أميرهم فقال رجل والله يا رَسولَ اللهِ ما منعني أن أتعلم القرآن إلاَّ خشية أن لا أقوم به فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم اقرؤُوه وارقدوا عليه فإن مثل القرآن لمن تعلمه فقرأه وقام به كمثل جراب محشو يفوح ريحه في كل مكان ومثل من تعلمه ورقد وهُو في جوفه كمثل جراب أوكي على مسكوَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لاَ نعلمُهُ يُرْوَى عَنِ النَّبِيّ صَلَّى الله عَلَيه وَسَلَّم إلاَّ من حديث أبي هُرَيرة بهذ الإسناد وعطاء مولى أبي أحمد لا نعلمه حدث عَن أبي هُرَيرة إلاَّ هذا الحديث ولاَ حدث عنه إلاَّ سَعِيد الْمَقْبُرِيّ عطاء مولى أم صبية عَن أبي هُرَيرة
English Translation
Ahmad ibn Abdullah ibn al-Husain, known as Ibn Kurdi, narrated to us saying: Abu Usamah narrated to us saying: Abd al-Hamid ibn Ja'far narrated to us saying: Said al-Maqburi narrated to us from Ata, the freed slave of Abu Ahmad, from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) sent an expedition of considerable number, and he examined each man regarding what Quran he had, or he said: of the Quran. He came to a man who was among the youngest of them in age and said: 'What do you have, O so-and-so?' He said: 'I have such-and-such and Surat al-Baqarah.' He said: 'You have Surat al-Baqarah?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Then go' — I think he said: 'and you are their commander.' A man said: 'By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, nothing prevented me from learning the Quran except fear that I would not stand by it.' The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: «Recite it and sleep with it, for indeed the example of one who learns the Quran and recites it and acts upon it is like a bag filled with musk whose fragrance spreads everywhere, and the example of one who learns it and sleeps while it is in his heart is like a bag tied up with musk inside.» This hadith, we do not know it to be narrated from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) except from the hadith of Abu Hurairah with this chain, and Ata, the freed slave of Abu Ahmad, we do not know that he narrated from Abu Hurairah except this hadith, nor did anyone narrate from him except Said al-Maqburi. There is also Ata, the freed slave of Umm Subayah, who narrated from Abu Hurairah.
