حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ قَالَ نا رَوْحٌ قَالَ نا الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ أَبِي يَعْلَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ كُنْتُ رَجُلًا مَذَّاءً فَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ فِيهِ الْوُضُوءُ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ أَسْنَدَ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ أَبِي يَعْلَى إِلَّا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ فَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ فِيهِ الْوُضُوءُ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ أَسْنَدَ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ أَبِي يَعْلَى إِلَّا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ
English Translation
Hadrat Ali (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated: I was a man who experienced excessive pre-seminal discharge (madhi), so I was too shy to ask the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), so I ordered al-Miqdad to ask him. He (the Prophet) said: "It requires ablution (wudu)." We do not know that al-Thawri narrated from Hisham ibn Abi Ya'la any hadith with a connected chain except this one.
