English Translation

Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us: Mu'adh ibn Hisham narrated to us: My father narrated to us from Qatadah from Anas from the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) who stated: «When Allah created the earth, it began to sway, so He created the mountains and cast them upon it, and it settled. The angels marveled at the strength of the mountains and asked: O our Lord, is there anything in Your creation stronger than the mountains? He said: Yes, iron. They asked: O our Lord, is there anything in Your creation stronger than iron? He said: Yes, fire. They asked: O our Lord, is there anything in Your creation stronger than fire? He said: Yes, water. They asked: O our Lord, is there anything in Your creation stronger than water? He said: Yes, wind. They asked: O our Lord, is there anything in Your creation stronger than wind? He said: Yes, the son of Adam who gives charity with his right hand while concealing it from his left hand.»
